Community Musculoskeletal Service in Oxfordshire

The contract for the provision of the Oxfordshire Community Musculoskeletal Service (MSK), currently provided by Healthshare Ltd, is due to end on 30 September 2022. Following a comprehensive procurement process, Connect Health has been appointed to take over the contract from 1 October 2022.  

OCCG is working closely with Connect Health and partners to enable a safe transition between providers, ensuring minimum disruption to patients.

COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign

People aged 75 and over and those who are immunosuppressed are urged to get their booster jab to help protect them from the virus.

Once you receive an invitation you can book a booster via the national booking service online or call 119 free to get your jab at various sites across Oxfordshire. This includes community pharmacies and the large vaccination centre at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.

COVID jabs for people aged 12 and over: you can get 1st or 2nd doses and booster jabs in Oxfordshire without an appointment – for more details and to find a clinic near you see here or book your jab via the national system

COVID Vaccinations for 5-11 year olds: All children aged 5-11 are now able to get a vaccination against COVID-19. Parents and guardians can go online to the National Booking Service or call 119 to book an appointment.

Vaccination appointments will be available throughout the summer via the national booking service at various sites including community pharmacies and large vaccination centres. To book visit Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination - NHS (www.nhs.uk) or call 119 free from mobiles and landlines. Lines are open every day from 8am to 8pm, and 119 can provide support in 200 languages.

Live Better, Live Longer

Everyone is welcome at an event for people with learning disabilities and those who care for them on 28 June at the Unipart Conference Centre, Oxford OX4 2PG (10am-4pm). 

Health professionals will explain how people with learning disabilities can access health and care services such as bowel, breast and cervical screening and provide tips on eating well and exercising appropriately.

The event will include smoothie making, coached football sessions and a chance to win a season ticket for Oxford United Football Club and cooking lessons. To find out more see here

Three Oxford City GP Practices on the Move

King Edward Street Medical Practice, 27 Beaumont Street Medical Practice and 28 Beaumont Street GP Practice will be moving into new modern premises in Oxford city centre in June.

The three GP practices will be relocating to the new Northgate Health Centre, at 15 Market Street, OX1 3EF, built by Jesus College as part of its Cheng Yu Tung Building development. The three practices will start providing a primary care service from the new health centre on Monday 27 June 2022. For further information see here

Spotlight on Dementia in Wallingford

People with dementia and their carers can find out how to get involved in research to tackle the condition at the Dementia Café, Waterside Court Care Home, Wallingford, Wednesday 29 June (2pm to 4pm). The event will lift the lid on the work carried out by the National Institute for Health and Care Research into dementia and a physiotherapist will provide multi-sensory activities for participants. Healthwatch Watchdog Reviews the Past Year

Join Healthwatch Oxfordshire as they review their achievements over past 12 months supporting local health services. The event takes place on Tuesday 5 July (4pm-5pm) at The King’s Centre, Osney Mead, Oxford, OX2 0ES.
